Since our founding in 2009, the Florida Deputy Sheriffs Association Board of Directors has partnered with the association staff to offer the best support, training and financial resources for Florida’s deputies.

Board President
Sheriff Billy Woods, a Marion County native, has dedicated his career to serving and protecting his community. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice Administration/Business Management and is a graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Executive Senior Leadership Program.
Currently, Sheriff Woods serves as board president of the Florida Deputy Sheriffs Association, secretary of the Florida Sheriffs Association, and a board member of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch. He is also involved in various community initiatives, including expanding Marion County’s K-9 Unit and reestablishing a mounted unit to enhance local law enforcement efforts.
Since taking office in 2016, he has overseen significant growth in the county’s population while prioritizing safety and security.
