FDSA Conference Training

Coming Up Next: Florida Law Enforcement and Tactical Operations Conference and Expo

I am continually proud of and inspired by the work of this organization in supporting Florida deputies and their families. While that work is ongoing, here are a few key highlights.

Coming up soon we have FDSA’s Florida Law Enforcement and Tactical Operations Conference and Expo, the ultimate training event for all members of law enforcement including SWAT, patrol, detectives, TEMS, military and corrections. The event is happening May 28-30 in Jacksonville. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

In 2024, FDSA launched the Law Enforcement Apprenticeship Program (LEAP) to support future sheriffs’ deputies while they attend a law enforcement academy. I am pleased to report that the LEAP team continues to grow as we welcome Daisy Gray, director of apprenticeship and member programs, to the FDSA team.

In March, FDSA launched a podcast, A Tactical Pause: Leading in Law Enforcement. Hosted by retired Chief Deputy John Creamer, deputy executive director of the Florida Deputy Sheriffs Association, this show delivers thoughtful and relevant conversations to help you navigate the ever-evolving landscape of public safety. You can listen to A Tactical Pause at fldeputysheriffs.org/podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.

Our work in Florida is perhaps most visible through the FDSA Lend a Hand Program. We recently had the opportunity to support 120 deputies from 15 counties with hurricane relief funds after the storms in 2024. And, through your faithful support, the Lend a Hand Fund was also used to support the family of Walton County Deputy Sheriff William May, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on April 2. As we grieve this terrible loss, I am more thankful than ever for the support we can provide to each other during the most difficult of times.
